Prayer for Christ the King

Collect

Almighty ever-living God, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of the universe, grant, we pray, that the whole creation, set free from slavery, may render your majesty service and ceaselessly proclaim your praise. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Act of Dedication to Christ the King

O Jesus Christ, I acknowledge you as universal King. All that has been made was created for you. Exercise over me all your sovereign rights.

I renew my baptismal promises, renouncing Satan and all his works and pomps. I promise to live as a good Christian.

In particular do I pledge myself to work for the triumph of the rights of God and your Church.

Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer you my poor actions to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge your sacred Kingship, and that thus the reign of your peace may be established throughout the whole universe. Amen.

Prayer of Submission

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the King of kings and Lord of lords. Before you every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.

I acknowledge your kingship over every area of my life:

  • My mind: May your truth reign in my thoughts
  • My heart: May your love rule my desires
  • My will: May I seek your kingdom first
  • My time: May I use each moment for your glory
  • My resources: May all I have serve your purposes
  • My relationships: May your peace govern my interactions

I surrender my life to you, my King. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done!

Prayer for Christ's Reign in Society

O Christ, King of the Universe, extend your reign over all nations. Let your kingdom of justice, love, and peace transform:

  • Our governments—that they may seek the common good
  • Our economies—that the poor may not be forgotten
  • Our communities—that peace may prevail over violence
  • Our cultures—that truth may triumph over lies

Hasten the day when every tongue will confess that you are Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Closing Prayer

Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat! (Christ conquers! Christ reigns! Christ commands!)

O King of Glory, King of Peace, we worship and adore you. May your kingdom come in our hearts, in our homes, in our world. Until you return in glory, keep us faithful, watchful, and ready to greet you, our King. Amen.
