This novena prepares for the Solemnity of the Assumption, celebrating Mary's bodily assumption into heaven at the end of her earthly life.
Almighty and everlasting God, who assumed the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of your Son, body and soul into heavenly glory, grant, we pray, that we may be worthy to share in her glory. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory Be...
From the Annunciation to the foot of the Cross, Mary's life on earth was marked by unwavering faithfulness to God's will. She who said "yes" at Nazareth never wavered in her fiat:
"Mary said, 'Behold, the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.' Then the angel departed from her." — Luke 1:38
Mary's assumption into heaven was the fitting crown of a life lived in perfect faithfulness. She who bore the Author of Life in her womb was not abandoned to the corruption of the grave. Her earthly pilgrimage, from Bethlehem to Calvary, was a journey of total trust—and God honored that trust with the gift of eternal glory, body and soul.
O Blessed Virgin Mary, you walked this earth in humble faithfulness, treasuring the word of God in your heart. Your life was a seamless garment of trust, woven through joy and sorrow alike. Teach us to imitate your fidelity, that we may persevere in grace and one day share in the glory of your Assumption. Mother most faithful, intercede for us, that we may never falter in our journey toward your Son. Amen.
My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.
O God, who looked upon the humility of the Blessed Virgin Mary and raised her to the dignity of Mother of your only-begotten Son, and on this day crowned her with surpassing glory, grant that, through her intercession, we may be saved and raised up to heavenly glory. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Blessed Mother, assumed into heaven, pray for us!
