This novena honors the Most Holy Name of Jesus, at whose name every knee shall bow. It is prayed January 1-9.
O God, who appointed Your only-begotten Son to be the Savior of mankind and commanded that He should be called Jesus, mercifully grant that we who venerate His Holy Name on earth may fully enjoy His presence in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord.
"Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth," — Philippians 2:9-10
The Name of Jesus is not merely a label — it is a divine revelation of power and salvation. God the Father bestowed this Name above all other names upon His Son as the reward for His obedience unto death. In this Name resides all the authority of heaven, all the power of the Almighty, and all the tenderness of a Savior who loves us beyond measure.
O Jesus, whose Name is above every name, I bow before You in adoration. At the sound of Your Name, angels tremble with awe, demons flee in terror, and human hearts are filled with hope. Teach me to invoke Your Holy Name with reverence, faith, and love. May Your Name be always on my lips and forever in my heart. When I am weak, may Your Name be my strength. When I am lost, may Your Name be my guide. When I am in danger, may Your Name be my shield. Blessed be the Name of Jesus, now and forever.
Jesus, Son of the Living God — have mercy on us. Jesus, splendor of the Father — have mercy on us. Jesus, brightness of eternal light — have mercy on us. Jesus, king of glory — have mercy on us.
Our Father... Hail Mary... Glory Be...
O merciful Jesus, You who said, "Whatever you ask the Father in my name, He will give you," hear the prayers I offer through Your Most Holy Name. May I live and die with Your Name upon my lips and Your love within my heart. Amen.
