Presentation of Mary Novena - Day 1

Opening Prayer

O Lord God, who willed that the Blessed Virgin Mary, temple of the Holy Spirit, should be presented in the Temple, grant that through her intercession we may be found worthy to be presented one day in the temple of your eternal glory. Through Christ our Lord.

Mary's Dedication to God

According to ancient tradition, the young Mary was brought to the Temple in Jerusalem by her parents, Joachim and Anne, to be dedicated entirely to the service of God. At a tender age, she gave herself wholly to the Lord — a gift so complete that it would shape the destiny of the world.

"Listen, daughter, consider, and turn your ear. Forget your own people, and also your father’s house. So the king will desire your beauty, honor him, for he is your lord." — Psalm 45:10-11

Mary's presentation was not merely a ritual act but a profound spiritual reality. From her earliest years, her heart belonged entirely to God. She held nothing back, reserving no corner of her soul for herself. This total self-giving prepared her to receive the greatest gift heaven could bestow.

Prayer

O Blessed Virgin Mary, you were dedicated to God from your earliest days. Your young heart burned with love for the Lord, and you offered yourself without reservation. Help us to imitate your generous self-giving. Teach us to hold nothing back from God, that we may be worthy temples of His presence, dedicated to His service in all things.

Prayer of Dedication

Lord, I offer myself to you today, inspired by the example of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Just as she was presented in the Temple, I present myself before you — with all my strengths and weaknesses, all my hopes and fears. Accept this offering and make me wholly yours. Amen.

Closing Prayer

O God, who called the Blessed Virgin Mary to dwell in your Temple, make our hearts worthy dwelling places of your Holy Spirit. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
