Novena to St. Faustina - Day 1

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

St. Faustina Kowalska, apostle and secretary of Divine Mercy, we turn to you with confidence. You who received extraordinary revelations of the merciful Heart of Jesus, intercede for us before the throne of mercy.

Apostle of Divine Mercy

In the quiet convent of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, a humble Polish nun received one of the most extraordinary missions in the history of the Church. St. Faustina was chosen by Jesus Himself to be the apostle of His Divine Mercy — to remind the world that God's mercy is greater than all human sin.

"The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness." — Psalm 103:8

On February 22, 1931, Jesus appeared to Sister Faustina and said: "Paint an image according to the pattern you see, with the signature: Jesus, I Trust in You." From that moment, her mission was clear. She was to proclaim to the world that the fountain of God's mercy is open wide, and that no soul who approaches with trust will be turned away.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, through the intercession of St. Faustina, open my heart to receive Your Divine Mercy. Help me to trust in You without reserve, to seek Your mercy in the Sacrament of Confession, and to share that mercy with everyone I meet. Let me never doubt the vastness of Your merciful love.

The Divine Mercy Invocation

Jesus, King of Mercy, I trust in You. St. Faustina, you who heard the voice of Jesus calling you to spread His mercy, pray that I too may hear His voice. Help me to be an instrument of mercy in this wounded world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. Amen.

Closing Prayer

St. Faustina, first apostle of Divine Mercy, present our prayers to the merciful Savior. May we receive the graces we seek during this novena, and may we grow ever deeper in trust. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Faustina, pray for us!
