This novena honors St. Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland, who brought the Catholic faith to the Irish people in the 5th century.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
O Glorious St. Patrick, Apostle of Ireland and light to the nations, you who brought the Gospel to a pagan land and transformed it forever, intercede for us before the throne of God.
St. Patrick was not born in Ireland, yet he became its greatest apostle. Sent as a missionary in the fifth century, he baptized thousands, established monasteries and churches, ordained priests, and planted the seed of faith so deeply that Ireland would become known as the "Island of Saints and Scholars."
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." — Matthew 28:19
O Apostle of Ireland, glorious St. Patrick, you answered God's call to bring light to a land shrouded in darkness. Your courage, your perseverance, and your burning love for souls transformed an entire nation. Intercede for us, that we too may be bold witnesses of the faith wherever God has placed us. Help us to see every environment — our workplace, our neighborhood, our family — as our own mission field. May we evangelize not only with words but with the testimony of holy lives. Amen.
From his own writings:
"I am Patrick, a sinner, most unlearned, the least of all the faithful, and utterly despised by many. I owe it to God's grace that so many people were reborn in God through me."
Lord, through the humility and zeal of St. Patrick, renew in us the missionary spirit of the early Church. May we never tire of proclaiming Your name.
O Glorious St. Patrick, your apostolic labors bore fruit that has lasted for over fifteen centuries. May the faith you planted in Ireland flourish anew, and may your example inspire missionaries throughout the world. St. Patrick, pray for us. Amen.
