Novena to St. Rita of Cascia - Day 1

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Holy St. Rita, patroness of impossible causes and desperate situations, we come before you with confidence. You who experienced every state of life — wife, mother, widow, and religious — intercede for us in our hour of need.

Patroness of Impossible Causes

St. Rita is invoked as the patroness of impossible causes because her entire life was marked by situations that seemed beyond hope. Yet through prayer, patience, and unwavering faith, she witnessed God do the impossible again and again. When every door was closed, God opened a window.

"For nothing spoken by God is impossible.'" — Luke 1:37

Prayer

O Patroness of the Impossible, glorious St. Rita, we bring before you the situations in our lives that seem hopeless. The illness that will not heal, the relationship that cannot be mended, the addiction that will not break, the door that will not open. We have tried everything, and we have failed. But we have not yet tried everything — we have not yet fully entrusted our impossible causes to God through your powerful intercession. Take our hopeless cases to the throne of mercy and obtain for us the miracles we seek. Amen.

Prayer for Impossible Intentions

Through St. Rita's special patronage:

O Lord God, nothing is impossible for You. What is beyond human power is within Your almighty reach. Through the intercession of St. Rita, who witnessed Your miraculous power throughout her life, we ask You to intervene in the impossible situations we now face (mention your intentions). Increase our faith, strengthen our hope, and teach us to wait with patience for Your perfect timing.

Closing Prayer

O Holy St. Rita, you are proof that God specializes in the impossible. When we are tempted to give up, remind us that with God, there is always hope. St. Rita of Cascia, pray for us. Amen.
