My Prayer Companion ("the App") is a Catholic liturgical calendar and prayer application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App on Android and the web.

The App and the website at myprayercompanion.org are operated by Infinite Apps, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel) under KVK number 42057509, with registered office at Graan voor Visch 15707, 2132 EM Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. Infinite Apps is the data controller for the personal data processed under this policy.

1. Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account.
- Prayer preferences: Content language, reading length preferences, and UI language settings you choose.
- Devotion activity: Prayer completion records, streaks, and devotion progress you track within the App.
- Feedback: Any feedback, bug reports, or messages you voluntarily submit through the App.
Information collected automatically
- Device identifier: A randomly generated unique ID stored on your device (mobile only) used to associate your device with your account.
- Usage data: When you consent to analytics, we collect screen views, prayer interactions, feature usage, and general app engagement data.
- Crash reports: When you consent, we collect crash logs and error reports to improve app stability.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, or other personal files.
- We do not read or access your messages, calls, or browsing history.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide the App's features: Tracking your prayer progress, devotion streaks, and preferences.
- To improve the App: Analysing anonymised usage patterns and crash reports to fix bugs and improve the user experience.
- To display relevant ads: If you have not purchased the premium unlock, we may show non-intrusive banner advertisements on non-prayer screens using Google AdMob. Ad personalisation depends on your consent preferences.
- To process purchases: When you make in-app purchases (candles, donations, or premium unlock), your purchase is processed by Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment information directly.
3. Data Storage & Security
- Firebase Authentication: Your account credentials are managed by Google Firebase, hosted on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure with industry-standard encryption.
- Backend data: Your user profile, activity logs, and preferences are stored on Google Cloud Run servers in the
us-central1 region. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
- Local data: Prayer completion records and preferences are stored locally on your device using SQLite and SharedPreferences. This data is not encrypted at the device level but is only accessible to the App.

For all users
- Access: You can view your profile data in the App's Profile screen.
- Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated server-side data from the Profile screen. This action is irreversible.
- Preferences: You can change your content and language preferences at any time.
- Consent: You can withdraw analytics and advertising consent at any time through the App's settings.
For users in the European Union (GDPR)
In addition to the above, you have the right to:
- Data portability: Request a copy of your personal data in a structured format.
- Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data.
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes.

We respect the Digital Markets Act requirements. Analytics and advertising data collection requires your explicit consent, which you can grant or withdraw at any time through the consent banner shown on first use.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Data Retention
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Analytics data: Retained for up to 14 months (Firebase Analytics default).
- Crash reports: Retained for up to 90 days.
- Local device data: Remains on your device until you uninstall the App or manually clear app data.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will prompt you to review and accept the updated policy within the App. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
